Shaun T’s Hip Hop Abs Review: Dancing Your Way to Washboard Abs and Toned Muscles

Shaun T’s Hip Hop Abs has been quite popular among those who are looking for ways to sculpt their abs and get rid of the unwanted fat in their midsections. The program was released a few years ago and has gained a large following since.

There are two reasons that made me decide to take a closer look at Hip Hop Abs. One, I wanted to see firsthand how this seemingly fun DVD workout program can really transform a person’s abs. Two, I was skeptical that the workout actually worked.

What Hip Hop Abs is All About

The Hip Hop Abs workout program is basically designed to target the abdomen and tone other areas of the body such as the arms, legs, thighs, and buttocks. There are no intense routines that users are required to follow, so if you’re expecting something like Insanity or P90X then you’ll be better off finding another program you can try. What you get is more like advanced aerobic classes and then some. The trainer, Shaun T, was in his own words overweight before he tried developing a program that can tone the abs without the crunches and sit ups.

There are 4 routines contained in the DVD set for Hip Hop Abs, and each routine is different from the other. There are routines that last about 20 minutes, while there are some that last longer. First, users will get the introductory video where Shaun T explains his “tilt, tuck, tighten” method and what you can expect from joining the workout. The second routine focuses on cardio routines that are designed to burn fat away from the abs and other areas, while the third features Shaun T teaching his ab sculpting techniques so users can achieve the washboard ab effect without doing any sit ups or crunches. The final routine on the other hand features a full body cardio workout along with additional ab exercises for maximum results.

What You Get When Purchasing the Hip Hop Abs Kit

Aside from the DVDs mentioned, Beachbody and Shaun T have pulled out all the stops in this workout kit. The Hip Hop Abs Kit includes a lot of bonuses that users can take advantage of without the extra cost. These include a nutrition guide, a 30-day workout calendar, a measurement card and tape to track progress, and 24/7 customer service support that users can call on for help whenever they have questions or get stuck with the moves or the program. Bonus DVDs on the other hand include the Hips Buns, and Thighs workout and the Learn to Dance DVD where users are taught basic and intermediate dance steps used in the entire workout program. This means that even if you don’t have a talent for dancing, you can still learn the moves needed to complete the program and have fun at the same time. Additional bonuses include the 6-Day Slim Down Plan and the Results on the Run Diet Guide.

With so many freebies being given to those who order, it is easy to imagine the program as being non-effective at first. After all, there have been companies that offer a ton of freebies to mask the fact that their products are worthless. However, I proceeded to try the workout in the hopes of making a difference in the way I looked and the level of self-confidence I felt.

My Experience with Hip Hop Abs

I started the workout on the first of the month just so I can get in the full 30 days without having to remind myself of the date. The introductory video was good, and even for a person who does not know how to dance I think I did pretty well. My feet and legs were sore by the end of the routine and so was my midsection from trying out what Shaun T demonstrated in the video. I felt good nonetheless, seeing that the pain I felt meant I was doing the program right.

The second day was a bit more difficult than the first because I now had to contend with sore muscles aside from the cardio workout I needed to finish. By the third day however, I found that although the soreness hasn’t gone, I was able to endure the workout much better than I did during the past couple of days. By the end of the week I felt like my body was already accustomed to the routine and so I didn’t have as much problems as before.

By the end of the second week, I noticed that my abs were in fact a bit tighter and not as flabby as they used to. Being the mother of 3 kids, you can just imagine how my abs looked like when I first started and so I was really relived that the program actually works. I am now on the third week of the program and I can say that I am starting to regain the shape of my abs and have toned arms and thighs as well. The dance routines are easy enough to follow, and users who are both rookies and advanced learners can catch up without any problems.

Pricing and Recommendation

The Hip Hop Abs Workout DVD set costs $59.85 plus shipping and handling. Those who order can also choose to pay in 3 separate installments of $19.95 each plus shipping and handling for the first installment. The workout kit also comes with a 30-day money back guarantee so users can try it risk free before deciding to pay the rest of the amount if they take advantage of the payment installments.

I have heard of many workout programs being advertised in the market but none seem to fit my schedule and the areas I need to target. Hip Hop abs, in hindsight, was a good choice for me because it came with easy-to-follow routines and short videos. Plus, the customer service experience is quite excellent, with a rep always ready to help with some questions I had with the program. If you’ve wanted to trim down the belly fat but have found no solution yet, I recommend that you try Hip Hop Abs.
